The Henry County Hospital Foundation supports the mission and vision of Henry Community Health through projects that assist the Hospital system wide and enhances healthcare throughout Henry County.
Annual Gala Supports Scholarships and Local Organizations
The Henry Community Health 2016 Community Health Needs Assessment showed the need to increase financial support for Needy Meds which provides medication assistance for residents who cannot afford them and the ICAP Women’s Clinic which provides health services for women who are uninsured or underinsured. Each organization receives donations from funds raised at the annual Gala. The survey also targeted diabetes and pre-diabetes as a growing epidemic and funds also are designated to Henry County YMCA in support of their nationally evidence based offering of the Diabetes Prevention Program. Looking to the future of healthcare in the community, the Gala also supports scholarships to help build a new generation of healthcare providers for our community and provides assistance to the Ivy Tech Health Campus program in New Castle. Two-Year RN Program and Ivy Tech Campus in New Castle
The Foundation led the way in bringing together a group of community resources and Ivy Tech Community College to offer a two-year RN program in New Castle where students can earn an Associate of Science in Nursing. A $250,000 donation also was made to Ivy Tech to expand their campus on the south side of New Castle and increase the health education programs available locally.
The Foundation provides support for a wide range of education programs for adults, children and teenagers, community health education, continuing medical education and leadership seminars.
Equipment and Technology
Foundation funds help provide new technology for the Hospital including state-of-the-art Imaging equipment. As hospitals across the country face declining revenues due to increased third party payor reimbursement, the Foundation plays a critical role in assisting the Hospital in providing new equipment and services.
Maintaining a strong medical staff that provides needed services in our community is one of the Foundation’s main goals in helping Henry County Hospital. With the assistance of the Foundation we have been able to recruit a medical staff with a range of specialties and a high degree of board certification not usually found in a community our size.
