Drug Take Back Day Is April 27
Medicines left in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. Studies show a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet.
Disposing of unused medicines by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash poses a potential safety and health hazard.
Bring pills only for free and anonymous disposal. Sites cannot accept liquids, needles/sharps of patches.
Henry County Sheriff Ric McCorkle says staff will be on hand Saturday, S=April 27, 10 am-2 pm at the Henry County Law Enforcement Division, 112 S. Main St., New Castle.
Shirley Police Chief Brian Pryor adds their office will be open from 10 am-2 pm on the same day at 409 Main St., Shirley.
Chief Matt Schofield says the New Castle Police Department, 227 N. Main, will have a note on the door with instructions.
Unwanted or expired drugs may be disposed of on a regular basis. Place the unwanted/expired medications in a secure container and place them in the white mail boxes located in the lobbies at each of these locations during regular business hours.
