Henry Community Health’s Pediatrics at New Castle Family and Internal Medicine Northfield Park team were recognized by the Indiana Immunization Coalition for their work to reduce vaccine-preventable diseases.
The Pediatrics team was awarded the 2020 Kristen Forbes Teen Immunization Rate Award for their efforts to immunize 13-18-year-olds against Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), meningococcal, and HPV (human papillomavirus).
The team was also recognized with the 2020 Measles VPD Prevention Award for working to increase the number of children between 4-6 years of age who are up to date on MMR vaccine. Their efforts to help ensure children entering kindergarten are protected against measles are to help ensure Henry County doesn’t suffer from a measles outbreak as seen in other states.
“It is great for our Peds team to be recognized for their work helping protect children within our community against preventable illness. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown just how important immunizations are to the health of our family, friends and the wider community,” stated Carri Stigall, Pediatrics Supervisor.
The pediatric team is dedicated to keeping children healthy and happy. The doctors and care team are trained and experienced in the care of newborns, children and adolescents. The Pediatric office is open 8 am-7 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am-5 pm on Friday. The peds office phones are answered from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. The On-call nurse is available after 5pm weekdays and 24 hrs on weekends.
