Due to the surge in COVID-19 activity throughout Henry County, Henry Community Health is restricting visitors to all of its facilities in Henry, Wayne and Delaware counties. No visitors will be allowed to accompany patients in an attempt to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 beginning at 6 pm, Friday, October 16.
“We are seeing increased hospitalizations of both positive COVID-19 patients and those who do not have COVID-19,” said Brooke Cowan, RN, infection preventionist for HCH. “We strongly urge everyone to please wear a mask, regularly wash your hands thoroughly and practice social distancing.”
Limited exceptions to where a patient may have only one visitor include:
- Women & Children’s Unit
- Inpatient surgery (day of surgery only – this does not include outpatient surgery)
- Direct admission to the hospital
- At patient’s time of discharge
- A parent accompanying a minor
Chief Medical Officer Arun Tewari, MD said, “Caregivers at Henry Community Health rely on our community to help us help them. We urgently need your help to stop the spread. Please wear a mask whenever you are out in public.”
HCH Care Team members understand this may be challenging and they will only keep these restrictions in place for as long as necessary. Your cooperation is appreciated as they strive to maintain a safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
Henry County Health Department Administrator Angela Cox, RN reminds everyone there is a local free COVID-19 testing site located in the upper level parking lot at New Castle Clinic, 1007 N. 16th St., across from the hospital.
“The drive-through free testing clinic is for ages 5 and over and minors should be accompanied by a parent or guardian,” said Cox. “Pre-registration will lessen your wait time, but you may show up without an appointment.”
