Pregnancy resources
At Henry Community Health, our expertise doesn’t stop when you leave your appointment. We emphasize the importance of continuing pregnancy education and support outside of the office. Our prenatal and breastfeeding classes, feeding support group, guides, and articles are just some of the many offerings part of our Baby-Friendly accredited hospital’s comprehensive maternity care program.
Prenatal classes
In our prenatal classes you will:
- Understand the labor and delivery process for vaginal and c-section deliveries.
- Learn about pain management options during and after delivery.
- Learn how to care for yourself postpartum and your baby.
- Tour the WCU so that you can become familiar with your Birth Care Center.
This class takes place during a single Saturday session, or in sessions that take place once a week for two weeks or three.
Breastfeeding classes
In our breastfeeding class you will:
- Learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, including why it’s the preferred feeding method.
- Learn about the anatomy and physiology of lactation.
- Learn tips for successful latching and positions for breastfeeding.
- Discuss problem-solving for pumping and storing milk.
- Get help with how to obtain an insurance-provided breast pump.
This class is offered once a month in the evening.
Feeding support group
Navigating infant feedings times can be daunting, but you don’t have to go at it alone. During our feeding support group sessions, our full time lactation consultant meets with new moms to discuss and assist with feeding your baby. This support group gathers on the second Monday from 5-7pm and fourth Thursday from 11am-1pm of each month.
