Meet our HCH Moms, Berlandie, Brooklyn, and Brittany. They welcomed their children at HCH Women and Children’s Unit located at Henry Community Health Hospital – Main Campus in New Castle, IN. Ranging from born-and-raised Henry County residents to driving from the next county over, these mothers and families share their experience of giving birth at HCH is really like. Brooklyn: I delivered all five of my kids here at Henry Community Health. I’ve had great experiences with everyone here.
The Harris Family: We found HCH. We came and we met the team and it just felt like the best fit for us. We just loved everybody. I felt like everybody was welcoming.
Brittany: One thing that stood out to me during my pregnancy and delivery here was the after care. The nurses were phenomenal.
Brooklyn: I feel like the nurses were really great at like trying to balance like my rest and also like my care because I feel like that can be kind of tough.
The Harris Family: When it was baby time, it, you know, everybody was just there and I have no complaints about any of my care from start to finish. It has just been wonderful.
Brittany: First time mom, every birthing story is different. Mine was just very easy.
Brooklyn: I always felt respected and heard.
The Harris Family: They’ve made us a priority. It goes a long way with us.
Brittany: The nurses and doctor was just fantastic. Everybody pretty much catered to what I needed and it was just phenomenal.
Brooklyn: They never pushed me in like one direction and respected what I wanted.
The Harris Family: I feel like that’s what we always come back to is we just feel safe. They don’t feel like my doctors, but not in like a negative way. Like I just feel like I’m having a conversation with my friend who cares about me.
Brooklyn: I’m Brooklyn Abrams and I’m a proud HCH mom.
Brittany: I am Brittany Klein and I am a confident HCH mom.

Preparing for your own birth at HCH?
Henry Community Health offers several resources to help you get ready for labor, delivery, and life with a new baby:
- Prenatal classes, which are available in single Saturday sessions or weeknight sessions, cover vaginal and C-section delivery, pain management options, postpartum care, and a tour of the BirthCare Center.
- Breastfeeding classes, offered once a month, cover techniques, positioning, pumping, and how to get your insurance-covered breast pump.
- Our feeding support group, led by HCH’s lactation consultant, meets once or twice a month.

About the HCH’s Women and Children’s Unit
Every year, about 300 babies are born at Henry Community Health. The Women and Children’s Unit is an accredited Baby-Friendly Hospital, which means the focus on infant feeding and mother-baby bonding starts before delivery and continues well after you go home. Your care team includes OB/GYNs, labor and delivery nurses, pediatric hospitalists, and a certified nurse midwife, along with a maternity navigator who helps guide you through the whole process.
