Hospital Week at HCH was anything but ordinary this year. True to our tradition of giving back, we transformed our annual celebration into the “HCH Olympics” – a spirited competition that brought departments together while making a meaningful difference in our community.
Olympic Spirit Meets Community Service
The festivities kicked off with departments across the HCH system channeling their creativity into designing Olympic-themed flags representing their teams. From colorful banners showcasing departmental pride to clever interpretations of Olympic symbols, each flag told a unique story of the dedicated professionals who serve our patients every day.
But this wasn’t just about decoration – it was about participation with purpose. HCH team members cast their votes for their favorite departmental flags in a uniquely meaningful way: one dollar equaled one vote, and one diaper equaled one vote. This innovative voting system turned friendly competition into community impact.
Record-Breaking Results
The response from our HCH family was nothing short of extraordinary. During Hospital Week, team members donated an impressive 8,200 diapers through the flag voting process. The monetary donations collected were then used to purchase an additional 40,000 diapers, bringing our total contribution to a remarkable 48,200 diapers for families in need.
These donations were distributed to several vital community organizations:
- Henry County Pregnancy Center
- Healthy Communities of Henry County
- Local food pantries throughout the county
All recipients were part of the annual United Way Diaper Drive, amplifying the reach and impact of our collective efforts.
Living Our Vision
This year’s Hospital Week celebration perfectly embodies HCH’s vision of leading our communities to a healthier future. By addressing the basic needs of families – something as fundamental as diapers for infants and toddlers – we’re supporting the foundation of community health and wellbeing.
The HCH Olympics proved that when healthcare professionals come together with a shared purpose, the results extend far beyond hospital walls. Our team members didn’t just celebrate their profession; they demonstrated the compassion and community commitment that defines healthcare at its best.
As we reflect on this year’s Hospital Week success, we’re reminded that the true measure of a healthcare system isn’t just found in the care we provide within our facilities, but in how we strengthen the entire community we serve. The HCH Olympics may be over, but our commitment to leading Henry County toward a healthier future continues every single day.
