Henry Community Health (HCH) was recognized by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA), in partnership with State Health Commissioner Lindsay Weaver, M.D., FACEP, for their commitment to infant and maternal health at the fifth annual INspire Hospital of Distinction recognition program.

INspire, funded by the Indiana Department of Health’s Safety PIN grant, was developed to implement the delivery of best practice care for Hoosier moms and babies and recognize hospitals for excellence in addressing key drivers of infant and maternal health.

HCH earned an INspire Hospital of Distinction recognition based on implementing best practices in key areas, including infant safe sleep, breastfeeding, perinatal substance use, social drivers of health, obstetric hemorrhage, and maternal hypertension.

“For the fifth consecutive year, this recognition affirms our commitment to delivering exceptional care to our community. Our dedicated physicians and nursing team consistently provide outstanding support to new mothers and infants,“ said Brian Ring, president and CEO.

“Our team’s fundamental philosophy is patient-centered care. We prioritize safety through comprehensive education, focusing on critical health practices like safe sleep, breastfeeding, avoiding harmful substances, managing blood pressure, and ensuring access to quality prenatal care,” said Melissa Hethcox, director of the Women’s and Children’s Unit at HCH.

Henry Community Health will expand its OBGYN services to the new Knightstown Campus when it opens in late spring. Dr. Bruce Benninger, an OB/GYN with HCH, currently serves patients at the Cambridge City and Middletown offices and will extend his practice to the Knightstown Campus. This expansion will enhance women’s healthcare access across Henry County.

This expansion of services along with its 24/7 Pediatric Hospitalist Program and commitment to remain Baby Friendly accredited continue to keep HCH at the forefront of infant and maternal health issues and needs. The HCH Pediatric Hospitalist Program provides newborn care 24 hours a day by board-certified pediatricians who have trained in children’s hospitals and neonatal intensive care units. Henry Community Health is a designated “Baby-Friendly®” Hospital by Baby-Friendly USA. This designation shows our commitment to providing support, education and the resources necessary to promote breastfeeding for our new moms.
