Billing & costs
Henry Community Health believes everyone deserves high-quality healthcare, regardless of their financial resources. We are committed to removing financial barriers to healthcare, as well as demystifying insurance and bills, so confusion and frustration don’t prevent you from getting the care you need to stay healthy.
Did you know you are entitled to an estimate from every provider, have federal protection against surprise medical bills, and can use our price estimator tool to find the cost of a procedure?
Keep reading to explore all of HCH’s billing resources, including a helpful FAQ and information about patient financial services, interest-free payment plans, health insurance, and more.
Standard charges
Standard charges are the hospital’s set prices for each service. You have a legal right to a list of standard charges. The list is called a chargemaster. A chargemaster may be helpful if you aren’t using insurance. If you are, the standard charge likely will not be the amount of your bill. An insurance company can negotiate a lower price than the standard charge, and your policy may cover all or a portion of the cost for you.
Henry Community Health is committed to price transparency to help you make informed decisions about your healthcare. We offer several resources to help you understand your medical costs and plan for medical expenses.
Good faith estimates
A good faith estimate is a breakdown of expected costs for a procedure or service, including fees, from a single provider or facility. For example, if you’re having surgery, you may need an estimate from the surgeon’s practice and surgical center or hospital. An estimate typically doesn’t include related care that is scheduled separately, such as physical therapy. You have a legal right to request a good-faith estimate from every provider or facility.

Protection against surprise medical bills
The federal No Surprises Act protects you from surprise billing. Surprise bills are unexpected, unauthorized medical charges for emergency care from a provider that’s not in your insurance network. Surprise bills also cover some non-emergency services at an in-network hospital or surgery center.
Did you receive multiple bills for one service? This can happen when HCH collaborates with another healthcare group to deliver your care. In these instances, the charges are itemized. You will receive a bill from HCH for our fees and separate bills from our partners for their charges.

A patient who receives services from Henry Community Health may receive more than one billing statement for those services. You will receive a hospital billing statement for the services rendered to you at the hospital and from hospital providers. You will be billed separately for Pathology Services and Emergency Room physician services.
The Emergency Physicians bill is separate from the hospital bill. The Henry Community Health bill will only contain charges incurred for the use of the Emergency Department area, technical and ancillary personnel, supplies and equipment. It will not include the Emergency Physicians’ fees.
You will receive an additional statement for the professional fees for the clinical and diagnostic evaluation, treatment and/or supervision of care from Vituity. Vituity will bill the appropriate insurance company for services rendered and if there is any remaining balance, the patient will receive a statement directly from Vituity’s billing company, CEP America, LLC. If you have questions regarding a statement from this company, please call 1-800-498-7157.
A 30% self-pay discount is given on all self-pay accounts.
HCH does allow payment plans to be set up for a maximum of 36 months at 0% interest. You can set up a payment plan online via our payment portal or you can contact the business office at 765-521-1516 for assistance.
Patient balances resulting from limited or no insurance coverage may qualify for financial assistance. If you would like more information on this program, please contact the business office (765-521-1516).
If any chronic conditions or new conditions are discussed and/or addressed at your preventative visit, a separate office visit can be billed by the provider. This is called split visit billing.
