While treatment varies based on your conditions, these are the most common allergy and asthma treatments:
- Allergy medication
- Immunotherapy

FAQs about Allergy & Asthma Care
While most primary care providers can help you with mild allergies, it’s best to see an allergist when:
- Standard over the counter or prescription medications are not helping your symptoms
- You avoid daily activities or locations because of your symptoms
- You have frequent infections or breathing issues
- You have a severe reaction, such as severe swelling or hives
The two most common types of allergy testing are:
Skin Prick Test – the doctor will place potential allergens on the skin and gently scratch the surface in order for the allergens to enter the skin. After about 15 minutes, the provider evaluates the area to see if any reactions have occurred.
Blood Allergy Test – the doctor will draw a small sample of your blood and send it to a laboratory for analysis. There, technicians test the sample against various allergens to check for reactions.
